Frock Horror of the Week: Princess Caroline of Hanover in Chanel

Lordy, lordy! It was a glitzy affair indeed in Monte Carlo this weekend with the Monaco royal family getting together for its famous Rose Ball. However, it seems that one royal took this year's theme, La Movida (the colourful Spanish movement of the '80s) a little too far...

Princess Caroline of Hanover is proof that sometimes, not even a designer label (she's wearing Chanel) can save you from getting it all wrong.

As co-host, Caroline should have known better than to trot out in this sparkly black nightmare complete with a frou-frou pink purse and... no bra! Sadly, she resembles something that rhymes with button...

Frock Horror of the Week: Princess Caroline of Hanover in Chanel - Comments

  • Frankenstein-ish. Looks like she ripped apart 3 dresses and sewed them together.

Since Germany does not recognize any titles, Hannover is part of her last name (the correct adress would be Ms Caroline Prinzessin von Hannover) and thus does not translate into English. You wouldn't say Charles Warehousefield for the guy who designed that dress, would you? Though considering the looks of it, he might just want to opt for it, cause that is quite an eyesore and dos not refelct favourable on Karl Lagerfeld.

  • Oh really? Ok, sorry, I'm from Germany so I thought the German name would be correct

  • Tina

Ew... what on Earth?! This actually hurts my eyes!

Hanover is actually the English translation and Hannover is the German translation, according to Wikipedia anyway.

  • I don't like her outfit either... it's too much going on there, especially the bag/basket/roses thingy.

But it's called HANNOVER, not Hanover :)
