We've got all yestarday's off schedule gossip from the folks at On|Off. As this post goes up we're over at the Royal Academy for On|Off Presents which kicks off at 10.30 featuring collections by six designers including Richard Sorger one of our diarists.
He told us he's had a good start to the week already and added: "Really looking forward to the ‘On|Off Presents’ show tomorrow, but not to the six o’clock start!”
I'm starting to get an idea of how much work is involved putting on the shows as event manager Diana Findlay has been dashing around like a woman possessed trying to get everything into place and when our On|Off spies caught up with her she said, through laughter: “Do you really want my quote for the day?”
PR Alison Lowe told us: “Since nine this morning when our exhibition opened we have been frantically busy welcoming international buyers and press and we’re now looking forward to three exciting shows." Which sounds like enough hard work but it doesn't finish there: "My last job for the day, probably around midnight, will be to put together the guest list for tomorrow’s ‘On|Off Presents’ show, so I hope I get it right and everyone’s in the right rows!!”
“It’s really great to see it all coming together" said Beaulieu Ferreira, she's the graphic design assitant at On|Off and added: " Can’t wait to get some more photos, I’ve got some great shots in mind.”
Edward Winter has been helping Diana make things happen over at the Royal Academy: “Following last night’s set up, it was really cool to see all the designers collections go onto the rails. The atmosphere is beginning to build. My feet still hurt but its totally worth it.”
Mollie-Anne Griffiths told us “I really enjoy seeing the build up of the shows" and she's excited at the prospect of seeing the filming of Project Catwalk's finale.
On|Off have a boutique at Oli which is getting lots of orders, no doubt putting a smile on Lee Lapthorne's face, and he told us he was "thrilled to see the exhibition packed from nine this morning." Wooh, 9? Bit early for us Lee!
Last but definitely not least is John Alexandrou On|Off's doorman who said: "I come back to On|Off to work the door every season to support my mates Lee and Clare. Everyone’s lovely but the long hours are killing me!”
So that's it from On|Off today and I have to say I'm glad we're not the only ones feeling the strain! Is it really only Wednesday?!
