Making their second New York Fashion Week outing, Preen represented the Brits at their autumn/winter show yesterday. Storming out onto the runway first was model Lily Donaldson in a grungey plaid cocoon jacket that I have instantly fallen in love with. Designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi took inspiration from Kurt Cobain and Kim Basinger in the film 9 1/2 Weeks (an odd mix to say the least) to create oversized coats and jumpsuits.
Navy blue leather trousers took on an interesting idea, while sequin trousers did not. There was a definite laid-back pajama feel to the overall collection. The highlights being the typical Preen cocoon shaped jackets, skirts and dresses which were belted. There was even a hint of paisley satin and shots of cobalt blue for a bit of colourful sexiness. But it'll be the lumberjack style shirts that will be best remembered for me.
