News doing the rounds last night was that supermodel–cum–GQ writer Naomi Campbell was been hospitalized in São Paolo. First there were reported that she was "being treated by one of Brazil's top specialists in infectious diseases," according to the reps at Sirio Libanes Hospital. But her reps say she's actually in hospital to "have a small cyst removed" and that it was a "successful procedure."
Dr. Jose Aristodemo Pinotti, a gynecologist, told The Associated Press by telephone that Campbell underwent abdominal surgery. "I cannot reveal what Naomi had, nor how serious her condition was, but I can say I operated on her yesterday, that everything went smoothly and that she is completely cured and walking in her room," Pinotti said. "She came to Brazil to be treated for a condition I am not authorized to reveal." He described the procedure as a laparoscopy, in which doctors use a thin, lighted scope to view internal organs.
Let's hope she gets better soon and the original reports were wrong.
