Marc by Marc Jacobs Margie velour dress

mbymj-margievelour.jpg I don't know where to start. When I first saw this Marc by Marc Jacobs Margie velour dress I thought it was sweet in a '70s swinging sort of way. The contrasting colours finished off with the faux double-breasted enamel buttoned look is very retro-chic. You could almost wear this as a tennis dress when you go for a casual game.

Though something was bothering me about the dress. It was velour. Marc by Marc Jacobs has gone and embraced velour? What is going on? After all Juicy Couture's velour tracksuits have moved out of the spotlight (though one of my very good friends still loves them). But then it is the velour that makes it almost affordable.

Would you wear it, and what with?

It looks nice on the photo, but I saw someone trying it on yesterday in the shops and it looked like an oversize toddler's dress. There is nothing chic about the fabric, which is more like towelling than velours, and the bottom half of the dress hangs frumpily and shapelessly.
