Pad yourself out! That's the message Giles wanted to get across last night at his autumn/winter 2008-9 show at his local district of East London. Hosting back-to-back shows, it was a dream to enter the disco ball environment, even if the show kicked off an hour late. Titled 'Tough Love', Giles's show opened with duvet-style pieces in a palette of pale pink, olive, purple and teal - this season's hot new colour!
Stringy kitted tops hung over long skirts with models shielded by veil-like scarves. It all gave a S&M style feel, especially teamed with blingy shoes thanks to Swarovski. Other highlights included a long teal evening gown, slashed at sides and panelled with mesh, as well as a bright red gown featuring layered squares of tulle and cut-out shapes, reminiscent of his last collection. Long Robin Hood style capes, exposed zips and cob-web fingerless gloves are also worth nothing. Overall, it was enough to excite even the most tired of minds, i.e. mine.
