LFW Diary: Interns at large #5
Catwalk Queen's fashion week intern, Pui-Tien Man, writes...
All good things must come to an end, and unfortunately for us, so does London Fashion Week. But the week has ended not with a whimper but a bang, as the two of us managed to attend our first fashion show...
We were invited to the Louise Amstrup On|Off show at the Royal Academy of Arts. Determined to make the very most of this opportunity, we accosted some of our fellow show-attendees for their expectations of the show, and their thoughts on (and fashion choices) their experience of London Fashion Week thus far. You can watch the voxpops here.
Soon there was movement towards the catwalk room - the show was going to start! We jostled in with the rest of the crowd. The room was smaller than we expected; shiny, minimal and monochrome with, as you would expect, the catwalk running down the centre. The plastic benches were lined with press releases, and most exciting thing placed at the foot - goody bags! Of course the first thing we did was have a sneaky delve inside. What did we get? 2 bottles of V water, 2 boxes of rather decadent truffles, a small tube of body butter, and some promotional leaflets. We were delighted with this haul.
The lights soon dimmed, and with a stellar view of the catwalk, we were brimming over with anticipation for the start of the show. It was much shorter than you would imagine, but it was fantastic! Girlie mini chiffons and flowing, tumbling hair floated past us to a heavy beat... although a bit nonplussed by the music, which repeated the words "Is it over, is it over/Oh no, oh no/Just say yes". If they were using reverse psychology, it sure worked, because we were left wanting more! Read our official write-up of the Louise Amstrup show here.
On the way out we chatted to the bubbly Claudine (shown here posing with her favourite creation!), whose sharp sculptural bags are a wonderful feature in the On|Off Exhibition room. The panels of gold and black ombre are perfectly attention-seeking while remaining elegant; a detachable gold chain ensures clutch-to-handbag versatility.
And that was the end! Thank you to everyone at Shiny Towers for making our week so memorable... and massive thanks to you for reading! We hope you've enjoyed our LFW coverage. 'Til next season... au revoir!
