Valentino receives Grand Medaille de Vermeil in Paris

This morning in Paris the classic designer Valentino received a Grand Medaille de Vermeil, awarded to him by Paris’ socialist mayor Bertrand Delanoe. The award makes him an honorary citizen of Paris. Last night Valentino presented his final fashion show as part of the Couture week. He announced his retirement following the Spring/Summer shows in September. The fashion house was then valued at $380 million.
The legendary Italian was joined by fellow designer Karl Lagerfeld to receive his award. Amusingly the image above looks more like something from Madame Tussauds than a shot of real life. I can't decide whether Valentino looks too orange or if Lagerfeld looks too pale?
Valentino owns a Louis XIII chateau near Versailles where he has reportedly been staying for the last month in preparation for his departure from the world of la mode.
