Psst... Is Carla Bruni to wed her French president?

Carla Bruni, former model and songstress, is setting gossip circles on fire with the rumours that her French president beau has popped the question. The Christian Dior gem she's been sporting lately has also added fuel to the fire that the 40-year-old has accepted President Nicolas Sarkozy's proposal.

"It's very 'our times,'" commented Karl Lagerfeld. "Carla is great: chic, modern, speaks many languages, perfectly educated, beautiful. I see only quality." Meanwhile, Sarkozy's office has reportedly scheduled a "major announcement" which should only set tongues wagging even more.

Even is Karl agrees, I do not... Nicholas is too sexy for this woman... She would ruin his fame (has already started to...) and break his heart (remember her former 'romances')! :(
