Keira's Atonement green dress is voted most iconic

keiragreendress.jpgOutfits of some of the major film characters are remembered and envied after for years. Who can forget Audrey Hepburn's gorgeous Givenchy gown in Breakfast at Tiffany's? Or those leather leggings that Olivia Newton-John had to be literally sewn in to in Grease? Or even the cute little suits that Alicia Silverstone wore in Clueless?!

Sky Movies and InStyle magazine have compiled a poll about the most lusted after film costumes and Keira Knightley's green dress as worn in Atonement came top!

I always question that these things can't be completely accurate. Surely Keira's outfit is arguably the one that most of us currently remember, mainly since the film was in cinema a mere months ago. But there's no denying that it was a gorgeous dress. I always loved Heather Graham's '60s dresses in Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged me.

Which is your favourite movie costume?

to be honest my best friend and i just saw national treasure 2 and diane krugers entire wardrobe was so incredibly beautiful. the costume designers really took keys fashion points from many of the old movies and translated them into modern day

The clothes of Pan in Pan's Labyrinth and in A Very Long Engagement are two of the most inspiring movie wardrobes to me. They're both set about the same time period during WW1 but I like that they capture the essence of the clothes from that time period.

Is this the most lusted dress of this year? Because I can think of many dresses of past movies that are more lust worthy! It is a lovely dress, but I doubt many will remember it in 50 years, where as I still lust after Grace Kelly's entire wardrobe from 'Rear Window'

I love jessica biel's work outfit in the Chuck and Larry film - that is how to look sexy for the office...her shoes are perfect too. I've spent hours looking for something similar. Not a dress... but excellent style

Does anyone know the designer of Keira's green dress?

Bev, it was designed especially for the film by the costume designer Jacqueline Durran. Faviana have created an 'inspired' style though...
