The second Berlin Fashion Week launched yesterday with the HUGO by Hugo Boss fall 2008 fashion show. Held in Berlin’s historic Tempelhof Airport (which was the focus of the Berlin Air Lift in 1948) where the tarmac was used as a backdrop for the runway shows, and where Belgian designer Bruno Pieters made his debut for HUGO by Hugo Boss. The HUGO fall 2008 collection was smartly tailored with inventively sharp shapes, although rather minimalist where mini skirts were high waisted with wide waistlines, jackets featured high collars with an array of strapless tube dresses in a collection that featured shade of black, blue, grey and white. One did have to look beyond the overall aesthetic to appreciate Pieter's tailoring detail. But it was definitely a show where everything on the catwalk could translate to your wardrobe and be worn as classic staples for years to come.
