Karl Lagerfeld gets stuffed
When I think of Karl Lagerfeld the words 'fuzzy' and 'wuzzy' don't exactly spring to mind. And yet that's what the toy makers at Steiff, the famous German bear factory, are about to turn Karl into... a stuffed animal! The iconic designer will be immortalised in teddy form, complete with dark glasses, a dark suit, high collar and logo belt buckle. That won't scare the kiddies much!
It seems that everyone wants a piece of Karl right now to treasure, put on their mantlepiece or to snuggle up to a bedtime. The Colette store in Paris is currently selling a limited edition miniature led figurine of Lagerfeld for 200 euros, which has already sold out.
The German-born designer was also the recent inspiration for a new Volvo advert without even realising it. Karl look-a-likes appeared in the advert to promote the new Volvo C30 hatchback. "They think I should be flattered, perhaps," he reportedly mused. You know what they say Karl... imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
