Ed's note: Another year, another set of resolutions...

kimedsnotepic.jpgKimberley Foster writes...

Why do we do it to ourselves? Year after year I promise myself that I'm not going to fall for the annual 'making of the resolutions' which we all know I'm never going to keep, for example detoxing... a likely tale!

So this time I'm saving myself the trouble by formulating a few style resolutions that I should, could, probably might keep. Pay attention as they may help you too...

Therefore, in 2008 I will try...

newlookmaxicolourdyedress.jpgNot wear jeans all the time... It's no secret that I'm a jeans and vest top gal at heart. In sharp contrast to Gemma (CQ's ed-in-chief), who never fails to be seen in some sort of girlie dress, I'm what you might call the Trinny of the duo, minus the posh voice. But this year I will do my best not to wear jeans every second day, I might even crawl out of my skinnies into a pair of boot-cuts which are making a return or flare it up for the festival season.

Add some colour to my wardrobe... With trends such as dip dyeing, colour bleeding and colour blocking set for this spring, 2008 has never been a better year to add that splash of colour to your wardrobe. I already have my eyes firmly fixed on this bright maxi dress from New Look's upcoming S/S '08 range (pictured right).

kimcolumnluellapic.jpgA floral print or two... It's flower power all over the fashion industry right now with mags such as Vogue Nippon inhaling the trend like a real flower. This year's trend varies from the bold, think Balenciaga, to the pretty and sedate like those little gals on the Prairie. I'm loving Luella for this and so should you (see left). Get ahead of the game by thinking floral.

Downsize my bags... It's been all about how big your bag is for far too long and our shoulders have paid the price, or mine has at least. This year we're downsizing our Mary Poppins bags and upgrading our clutches. My shoulders will thank me for it I'm sure. For bag inspiration, head over to The Bag Lady.

Ruffle my feathers... One detail that will have me cooing in 2008 is ruffles. Giles' romantic ruffles will soften my look while tiered skirts and dresses like the ones from Dorothy Perkins' S/S '08 collection will be just the thing to update that pencil skirt.

P.S. This year, I'm also I'm looking forward to...

- Louise Goldin's colourful knitwear at Topshop
- Gossip Girl hitting our screens - it's just the dose of TV fashion we've been waiting for!
- Banana Republic setting up shop in London - 20th March can't come quick enough!
- Chloë Sevigny for Poste Mistress shoe range
- The return of Ossie Clark
- The SATC movie - but then who isn't?
