Last night we were invited to a catwalk show in a warehouse for Warehouse (geddit?) to show off their Spring/Summer 08 collection. The star studded event (front row included Holly Willoughby and Lisa Snowdon) highlighted the growing importance of High Street and confirmed its place as an alternative to designer labels.
The collection covered all the major trends for next season including origami, ombre, safari and the CQ favourite: indigo. The show opened with a range of dresses and delicate tops which were reminiscent of Little House on the Prairie. Described as the 'Romantica' range, the line included crochet knits, maxi dresses, yoke detail tops and kaftans.

The show continued with a slightly more grown-up look including origami pieces creating a bold statement with softly pleated fabrics in coral, and monochrome. There was also a section of brightly coloured pieces with a strong silhouette. The emphasis was still very much on the body-con trend with figure hugging dresses and voluminous skirts.
Waists were clinched in with thick belts and bags were kept quite small. Studded detail was present in the 'Gloss' range alongside leather biker jackets. Hair was styled to look like boho chic with slightly messy plaited detailing. Think Sienna Miller or matted a la Kate Moss.
There was a lot of layering with the daytime pieces and tribal prints used throughout. Waistcoats were still prominent and long city shorts. There was also a revival of the dress over jeans look which I have never got bored of!
