Can this really be another year coming to a close... already? But what a year it has been for fashion. Today the Times unveiled it's best and worst of fashion for 2007, while we have been covering the major events from January onwards.
Personally and professionally it's been a huge year for me witnessing some of the biggest moments in the industry from Kate Moss for Topshop to the future stars at Graduate Fashion Week, and Catwalk Queen has been there through it all....
We've already brought you our most stylish folks of 2007, but as we look forward to 2008 what is it that we can happily kiss goodbye forever? Here is what's going in my fashion time vault never to see the light of day again (that is, until the next revival takes place... never say never!)
- Leggings: As much as I cling onto them (even now as the weather freezes over) they really have to be struck from my wardrobe completely. Thick woollen tights and long socks are a great replacement and I'll be sporting these heavily throughout the next few months.
- Tunic and trapeze dresses/tops: While I might be tempted to drag these out again for the Christmas season (they're great for hiding that turkey tummy) shapeless sacks have had their day. But fear not a wide belt will cinch in a lot of these maternity smocks so use your imagination!
- Turbans: They never quite took off but a few brave souls (Monica Cruz, Kimberley Stewart) did give a go. I did like it, but never tried it. No regrets!
- Nu rave: Those crazy kids at Boombox had a field day over nu rave and I'll remember those days fondly...
- Crocs: Urgh! Despite their flagship store opening around the corner from the office these monstrous inventions must be put to bed once and for all. They are not fashion people!
- Ridiculously overpriced handbags: £130,000 for a Louis Vuitton’s Tribute bag pretty much sums up 2007. Who can afford them? No one... so what's the point?
- I'm Not A Plastic Bag and copies: Before you say anything it's not the concept of cotton shoppers as a replacement for plastic bags that I want to lock away but the 'limited edition' versions that had fashionistas queuing for blocks. Falsely under the impression that they were a fashion accessory instead of a means to helping the environment utterly confused me.
- Peaches Geldof, Margo Stilley and Pete Doherty: I hate to throw any 'famous' people in the vault but I fear that 2008 couldn't handle another round of this lot.
- Celebrity Big Brother and X-Factor: Two words - Same Difference... I think that explains it.
As for Catwalk Queen, we've had a tremendous year attracting a record number of web traffic thanks to wonderful support of you - our dearly wonderful readers! So on behalf of myself and the CQ team I'd like to thank you for visiting us, leaving your comments, participating in our competitions and sticking with us... There's loads more in store for 2008 with London Fashion Week just peaking around the corner - stay tuned with us for that!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you all!

Kim xx
