June opened with a busy week for the Shiny Fashion team as we provided full coverage of Graduate Fashion Week sponsored by River Island. London is the only city in the world to host such a prestigious event for it's young, upcoming designers. It's a great opportunity for us as well as them as we get to pinpoint the who's going to be the next big thing. There was a lot of good competition this year and a host of celebrity judges including Victoria Beckham and Albert Elbaz.

Every year June marks the beginning of the festival season particularly as iconic festival Glastonbury gets under way. 2007 was probably the wettest Glastonbury ever but that didn't stop the fashion attempts. Pixie Geldof was probably the most notable in a Diesel lycra jump suit which raised a few eyebrows.

Stella McCartney designed a t-shirt for the festival which sold out incredibly quickly and raised money for Oxfam. McCartney's friend Kate Moss was obviously there too with her then-boyfriend Pete Doherty and remaining very mud free.

Paris Hilton missed out on the festival as she served time in LA's Lynwood prison for various driving offenses. She was initially let out early for "medical" reasons but was quickly sent back to the slammer to serve more of her sentence. She was eventually let out on 25th June 2007 and walked out as though on the catwalk before embracing her Mother. An emotional moment for all, I'm sure you'll agree.

The world of fashion lost another great talent in June as Gianfranco Ferré sadly passed away after suffering from a brain haemorrhage. The 'architect of fashion' died in a Milan hospital at the age of 62. He is credited with helping to boost the Italian fashion industry during the '80s and '90s. It was later announced that Lars Nilsson would take over the label.
