On our radar: 15-year-old designer set to take on the U.S. market

When I was an 15, I was listening to Nirvana, talking back to my parents, and generally being a moody angst-ridden pain in the backside. Kira Plastinina on the other hand, is fast becoming a fashion sensation with her designs which were modelled by Paris Hilton at a major catwalk show (see video footage above). Our U.S. sister blog, Shiny Style has blogged about the young Russian whose collection is due to hit American stores early next year.

Plastinina's designs are aimed at 13 to 23-year-olds who are interested in glamorous accessories.

"I was in Moscow for the Ralph Lauren launch [of two stores in mid-May] and the Kira Plastinina store looked to me like what one would find in the U.S. It has a feel like Juicy Couture, only it's more girly," said Marvin Traub, president of Marvin Traub Associates, who is helping to bring the label out to the U.S.

The good news is that items will be priced at less than $50, actually making them affordable enough for young women.
