H&M announce collaboration with Marimekko

Just what we need, a blast of spring time nostalgia in the form of Marimekko's upcoming collection for H&M. Reviving some of their extensive back catalogue of patterns from the '50s, '60s, and '70s Marimekko are collaborating with H&M to produce a range of around 50 pieces to be launched in April 2008. I'm a massive Marimekko fan, not only does the company hail from Finland, the same country as Moomins and Hel Looks but their prints are second to none.

I remember a few years ago before the high street started producing better prints the only interesting print fabric you could get was from charity shops, Marimekko or Japan. As well as producing great fabrics Marimekko also have a marvellous clothing collection.
H&M head of design Margareta Den Bosch said: "Our design team has long admired Marimekko's vivid prints and colours. When our designers came up with the idea of creating a collection with Marimekko prints, it felt natural and just the right time. The summer collection 2008 will be
joyfully fresh like a vitamin injection". The collection will feature floaty tunics, skirts and dresses and for men there will be shirts and shorts.
