Yesterday Kim and I got a sneaky peek at what New Look has to offer for next Summer, and I have to say I was really impressed with the quality of the clothes, the attention to detail and the research behind the trends. The catwalk inspirations were clear, with pieces that paid homage to designers as cutting edge as Christopher Kane and as reliably chic as Jaeger, and accessories were particularly fantastic (start saving for the shoes now). It was all I could do not to whip a few samples off their hangers and stuff them in my bag right there and then. See below for loads of photos of the collection, which will begin to hit the shelves in January 2008.

Colourbleeding / ombre came straight off the Prada catwalk and onto maxi dresses and one of our favourite pieces, the indigo bubble hem dress, which had delicate braided strapping all around the waist. There were also cropped ombre cardigans and knitwear.

Candy stripes covered Balenciaga style jackets, Luella-esque frilled strapless dresses and all kinds of other pieces. Peach / coral was a popular colour for dresses and also backed a lot of prints - there were loads of retro look tea dresses (which have been big sellers for New Look in past seasons).

Taking inspiration from Matthew Williamson's recent collection at London Fashion Week, the 'Global Festival' story was full of really fabulous slouchy Summer parkas, floral sundresses and studded sandals. There were also frilled chiffon mini skirts in snakeskin and leopard print - a more wearable way to try Christopher Kane's frilled concoctions, perhaps?

A star print pussybow sheer blouse was a dead ringer for the Jaeger offering worn recently by Kate Moss, and la Moss (with a pinch of Bianca Jagger) also inspired plenty of casual tailoring, suits and hats in monochrome colours. I love that oversized bag and the quirky shboot / sock combo.

Finally, the whole place was awash with nautical influences, anchor and bird prints. We loved the navy double-breasted pinafore dress and the drop-waist, printed silk mini dress, both trimmed with a dash of red and some heavy anchor covered jewellery.
Prices will range from about £8 - £35, with the range hitting stores ready for Spring. I can't wait!
