If you haven't yet seen the film Atonement, starring Keira Knightley, then get a wriggle on. I happened to love it, but even if you didn't it's still worth a look just for some of the costumes it features. While we're all familiar by now with that green dress, it's also worth noting some of the other key trends, for example - sheer floral blouses, high waisted pencil skirts, one-piece swimming costumes and tea dresses. It's forties high society elegance and here's how you can achieve the look yourself...

While daring to jump into a fountain on her family's estate (and in front of the housekeeper's son no less) Keira Knightley's character of Cecile wore a lightly printed blouse underneath a long pencil skirt, which buttoned up the front. Luckily you only need to turn to the high street to try out this look for yourself. High waisted pencil skirts are hot property right now so why not try this tweed version from Miss Selfridge (£32) along with a pussy bow blouse from ASOS.com (£28).

Straight off the catwalk in Paris, Chanel made it clear that delicate prints and tea dresses are destined to stick around for next season. Where should you turn for a tea dress right now? Topshop, that's where. I've scouted two versions from Kate Moss' range including a clover print style for £65 and floral print tea dress for £50.
