Every season I am excited by the new trends on offer, initially my excitement comes from the shows and then I'm itching to get my hands on an affordable version from the High Street. Sometimes, by the time I actually see it in Topshop/Zara I am already over it having seen it on one too many celebrities that I dislike (namely a certain WAG). Some general trends, such as this seasons body-con are inevitably going to make their way in to my wardrobe. Already I have donated perfectly nice smock tops to my house mates who don't even care who Christopher Kane is and are still enjoying hiding underneath billowing tops. This season, however, one trend that I have decided not to indulge in is the penchant for leather jackets.
Firstly, I'm vegetarian and although I wear leather shoes I do not deem it necessary to go all out with an entire leather outfit. I would love to wear vegetarian shoes but unless I splurge on Stella McCartney items I would have to wear boring shoes.
I like the idea of a leather bomber jacket, I definitely could not pull off the motorcycle style (as seen in the Kate Moss collection) as I'm not quite "rock" enough. I feel that wearing a leather motorcycle jacket (I mean the ones from H&M, not actual) is the equivalent of wearing a Clash t-shirt when you have no idea who Joe Strummer even is. I know nothing about motorbikes or metal music and I quite like Paris Hilton, hardly the making of a metaller.
It's also the trend this season that has been picked up by just about everyone. When travelling around London you're bound to see at least five girls wearing the jackets with skinny jeans and converse (another trend that I skipped). I love skinny jeans, I completely gave in to this trend and continue to battle for it's survival. I tried to sit out of the leggings trend but inevitably gave in. I am yet to wear leggings with flats, I am hoping to avoid this altogether. For now, I continue to try and be a better vegetarian, if anybody would like to send me any Stella McCartney shoes to help me in this challenge that would be greatly appreciated!
