When Kate Moss succumbs to a hair trend, you know you're onto something big. I may be a bit biased since I'm sporting one myself at the mo, but the fringe (or bangs, if you're reading this in the US) is big news in the world of fashion at the moment. La Moss is not the only one to go for the chop. Tess Daly, Cheryl Cole, Rosario Dawson and Kristen Bell (to name but a few) have also gone crazy for this bang-on trend (sorry, couldn't resist). Celebrity hair stylist and twice British colourist Anita Cox says "Fringes are a great way to liven up a current hairstyle and create an instant change," and I couldn't agree more. If you're tied to your lengths but fancy a change, a fringe can really make a difference, and the look is so hot right now (natch). See below for tips from the top on how to pick the right fringe to suit your hair...
Stylist Karine Jackson suggested these fringes for different face shapes:
Short and choppy: If you have a small face a short fringe will look great.
Short and straight: Great for a smaller face with smaller features.
Sweeping fringe: Good to soften a harsher face.
Long and textured: This is good to give round faces a more flattering shape.
The flick: Can widen a small face.
The big fringe: Amazingly, this can give you extra height!
She also has a great tip for those of us who find it difficult to make our fringes sit straight. "If you have a gentle cow-lick put a water-based gel on the roots of your fringe and rub the roots with your fingers. This ‘confuses’ the root area and the follicles don’t know what direction to lie in. Now blow-dry into your desired style aiming the hairdryer down the hair shaft - this will keep your fringe looking great all day." I gave this a go and it really does work!
However, before you book that appointment, remember a fringe is quite a commitment. Though it'll seem like it needs trimming far too often (every three weeks is the average - a good salon should give you a trim for free between cuts) it'll take ages to grow out. That said, grown-out fringes a la Sienna Miller circa 2005 can be really flattering, so why not bite the bullet and try it?

I have a round face and quite thick hair which frizzes up with the tiniest bit of moisture. I really want a fringe but i don't think i have the right hair type. I had some really hideous school photos when i did have a fringe, i think i'm just a bit scared of reliving those nightmare days all over again...haha.
Love it! I got mine cut in the very begining of OCT for a event at work, I had sooo many compliments on it! I recommend to anyone to get some sort of bang. And my hair stylist is sooo nice, he said when ever I am near by he will trim it. I think he said that also because I cut them at first my self and looked like a shaggy dogg because they where so long. PS don't try this trend at home gooooo to a salon!

I Have Really Long Hair and i have a oval shape face and im afraid that having a fringe will make my hair shorter :S
and i want to keep my hair looking long.
I am thinking of getting a fringe, but have a cows-lick so I'm not sure which type of fringe to get?
