CQ Live London: Camden Stables market : Arckiv
There are still a few shops within the Horse Hospital building. Most of them are antique furniture shops but there is also Arckiv eyewear in Unit 87A. Selling collectible vintage sunglasses and frames they are hand-picked by the owner, Fraser. He is hoping to encourage people to buy more individual frames as he's fed up with the fashion uniform.
He does, however, stock authentic vintage Ray bans and aviators as well as genuine sixties frames. As well as selling the eyewear at Camden Market, Arckiv also supplies eyewear to costume designers working with TV or films. Fraser's knowledge of glasses makes it easier for stylists to decide on an appropriate style.
The range available includes multiples of certain styles as well as custom made lenses. The shop has a collection of high fashion lenses including Dior, Pierre Cardin, Montana etc. However, they actually specialise in unusual, contemporary styles. Fraser explains, "It is our taste for the unusual, extravagant and eclectic which distinguishes arckiv, and makes it really special."
