All Saints embroiled in racism row over 'hanging' mannequins
Retail chain All Saints have become embroiled in a racism row over their store window displays which feature headless black mannequins being hung by chains. Police were called to a branch in Exeter after complaints were received asking for the display to be taken down.

"These disturbing displays are reminiscent of the Ku Klux Klan and the lynching of black people in America," said Rural Racism Project spokesperson, John McKenzie. "The chains used to hang the mannequins also bring to mind slavery and some of the complainants have commented on this".
However, the reaction from All Saints has been that while the company is still making a strong profit, the display can't be offending too many people.
"The models are not black – they are grey," said an All Saints spokesperson. "We used them because they look good in our stores, and not to represent any race. We are not the only store to use headless mannequins, and chains are used throughout our shops for various purposes. They go with our rock and roll image."
So is this an over-reaction or are All Saints being insensitive in their use and promotion of the window displays? Tell us what you think by leaving your comment below.
