Luckily for me, having finished an arduous project and in the mood to treat myself I found myself on a shopping spree this weekend. But true to form, when you have the money you can't find the clothes.
I hit Manchester town centre like a kid in a candy store, as the cliché goes, and I'm afraid to say I came away all but empty handed. While trawling every shop on the high street like a girl on a mission, I drew no inspiration. So is it just me? I expected this to be the perfect time to shop, make hard decisions about which item to buy and then just have them both, and generally put my boyfriend through a little bit of hell along the way. It is pre-Autumn after all.
It may just be my penchant for things a little out of the ordinary and with touches of vintage, but I simply couldn't be inspired by anything I saw. Instead I wandered around the usual big names thinking how they could dress their shop rails better and (tragically) how this would serve as great research for work the next week! Finally, I indulged my personal shoe fetish with some gorgeous T bar shoes from Schuh, but I am a girl who never fails to fall back on a shoe purchase. Am I looking in all the wrong places?
Working for this site means I get to pore over clothes every day and drool excitedly, but when it came to me putting my money where my typing is I failed. Perhaps I'll save up for some designer gear next time. If I can.
So, I wonder ladies, does this happen to us all? Are you finding the British high street as inspirational as ever, or do you often go home empty handed? I might just put it down to the eternal curse of being able to afford everything I wanted for once.
