We reported last week on claims that certain high-street retailers were still not paying their overseas workers a "living wage" and today a new report has confirmed the claims. The Let's Clean Up Fashion study has officially pointed the finger at top fashion brands such as Matalan, Arcadia and Marks & Spencer over not doing enough to improve conditions of employees abroad.
The report also made note of the comparisons between Kate Moss who made an estimated £3 million from her Topshop collection to the £64 per month that Topshop factory workers make in Mauritius. Charity War on Want and anti-sweatshop group Labour Behind the Label are now calling on the the Government to change legislation to enforce ethical working standards in off-shore supply factories.
