
Japanese fashion might only be popular to Japanese audiences and Gwen Stefani, but the long-term goal for many Japanese designers is to expand that appeal. WWD reports that "the idea behind the shows is 'to introduce the nation's talented young designers to the world at the beginning of the world's collection circuit,' as JFW itself explains." On display were fashions far more fanciful, daring and bold than anything on New York catwalks: tribal motifs, a relaxed mood and, of course, typical Japanese kawaii, or "cute," designs abounded.
