Alice Temperley showed everything we’ve come to expect from the British designer whose Go International collection for Target hits stores next week. The spring/summer 2008 collection titled, 'Plage Privee' (French for private beach) wasn’t quite the beach/resort collection as expected. It wasn’t quite resort chic either.

The collection was light and pretty, with the usual array of glamorous dresses that were cinched in at the waist and featured small tight ruffles. There were high waisted trousers and Capri trousers in grey, paired with puffed sleeved tops and fitted little jackets.

I loved the cocktail dress which featured a great black and white fish-scale print. Perhaps it would have been nice to see the print used more instead of creating the NYFW spring 2008 favourite, but not so popular mainstream buy - rompers. The shoes also were an interesting point, with models strutting down the catwalk in Doctor Marten-style high tops, to dainty platform heels.

While the collection didn’t quite live up to its name for me, it was definitely pretty and wearable. But I did expect a little more… I wonder what their celebrity front row which included Demi Moore, Christy Turlington and Molly Sims, thought of the collection.
