Milan Fashion Week: Prada

Everyone waits with bated breath to see what Prada will show on the catwalks as each season the Italian label's clothes and accessories that become must-have items and are constantly featured in the fashion mags. In contrast to her usual style Prada opted for a soft feminine look with Art Nouveau stylised florals and jewel tones. This show was packed full of '20s-style decadence filtered through the '70s but Miuccia Prada's trademark eclecticism stopped the collection from being too museum-ey.

Trousers took the shape of mannish crops or flowing silky flares and skirts were either full and billowing or unobtrusive knee-length sheaths which gave a very willowy silhouette. Thick knitted cardigans were used as jackets and were some of the most structured items on offer reinforcing the soft, unstructured collection. Printed batik/African inspired outfits trimmed in contrast piping gave a homespun feel, variegated knits and chequered tights added to the folksy noir vibe while faux-naif chiffon and organza lightened the mood.
