London Fashion Week: Lagerfeld Confidential

countvon.jpg
Last night at a secret venue in Soho members of the press were treated to a first glimpse of the Lagerfeld Confidential docu-film. Directed by Rodolphe Marconi, it provides a glimpse in to the life of one of the greatest names in the fashion industry today. Marconi was allowed into the life of Lagerfeld for two years and was given access to a number of important events. There is a lot of mystery surrounding the creative director of Chanel and many rumours circulating regarding his past. This film sheds light on many of these issues and reveals a very different side to Lagerfeld than the one portrayed in the press.

He is one of the hardest working people in the fashion industry creating collections for Chanel as well as his own line. He is also an avid photographer, something which is made very obvious in the profile as he discusses the differences between work and pleasure.
Lagerfeld is surprisingly funny in this film, you can see he doesn't take himself seriously and has a very amusing way with words. He still shows his ruthless side referring a few times to a sword of Damocles that hangs over his relationships but overall we were giggling the whole way through. All the things you might have heard about in interviews are there, his dozens of ipods, the many baskets filled with his signature silver rings and the funny wedged shoes he wears. You also get to see some amazing footage of Chanel shows including an amazing scene with a circular catwalk which was inspired by a dream. This is must-see viewing for style mavens and a perfect opportunity to get your non fashion-obsessed friends into the world of fashion!
