Former Bill Blass designer, Lars Nilsson is expected to be announced as successor to the late Gianfranco Ferre today. According to WWD, the Swedish designer will take over the reigns from Ferre, who died earlier this year from a brain haemorrhage, aged 62.
Nilsson was fired from Bill Blass due to poor sales before crossing over to Nina Ricci in 2003. His time at Ricci proved successful with the designer's preppy looks suiting the label until last year when he quit in favour of other pursuits. Now, it seems he is set to take charge of the Ferre house, which showed its first womenswear collection yesterday at Milan Fashion Week.
Nilsson's first collection for the house will take place next February during the menswear shows.
