Dita Von Teese for PETA's "Animal Birth Control" ABC campaign

76989795.jpg

I don't know how it is PETA (People for Ethical Treatment of Animals) gets away with so many undie/naked advertisements... (I can totally see an women's rights group launching an Anti-PETA pro-clothing campaign.) Dita Von Teese launched a campaign this week doing what she does best (posing provocatively) urging for the timely spaying and neutering of cats and dogs. She appears to be teaching from a book called "ABC" - Animal Birth Control - in a cheeky corset, cute peep toes and fishnet stockings. Thats one way to get attention. [Source: Getty Images]

Dita always looks so good. Did y'all know that she's a blonde from a farming town somewhere in the middle of the US? I read that in this month's (US) Glamour magazine.

Middle of the US? Not quite. She's from a little town in MI called West Branch. (My grandma lives there) I love Dita, I truly do... but PETA can go to hell as far as I'm concerned. They're a bunch of hypocritical, self-righteous people who support terrorist causes like the ALF (Animal Liberation Front), even though they publicly deny it. I'm all for protecting animals, and I regularly give to the SPCA and other causes as well as rescue and find home for abandoned pets, but I REFUSE to support PETA in any way.

The University of Oklahoma has adopted the tactic of using young women in sexually provocative poses to promote women’s athletic events. Click on my link to see an example. The "feminist" organizations have remained silent about this. Around OU, there is much fear of the fathead president, David Boren, who is a buffoonish tyrant.

PETA,
Why do you have to promote your cause using scantily clad woman? How tacky is that? Your trying to get your message across by using woman in tasteless clothes and poses? How about trying the normal way like all of the other large companys and corps do? Normal, to the point advertising? I wouldnt support your cause just because of the way you advertise..Do you really think that people will support you beacause of the tasteless pictures of women you use in your ads? Your drawing attention to a womans body, not your cause..HELLO!!! There are many other ways to do so instead of promoting and degrading woman in sexually provacative poses.

great ad. sure, people need creative ways to make them pay attention. This is an ad to spay/neuter your pets which is necessary. So many dogs are killed in shelters or worse while more puppies are born.
It's funny how people turn things around though and turn it into a post about being anti-veggie. I haven't eaten animails in over 12 years and know it's the right thing but people will try to find fault in this. It's because they know what they are doing is wrong. I know I don't need to defend myself for not causing added suffering in the world.

PETA,like all commercial ventures, uses every method it can to gain attention; thus, nearly or completely naked young women. The point being we all are naked under our fancy clothes but humans are protected from their vulnerabilities. Get it, dunces????

This ad is definately in poor taste. The intended message here, as we know, is for the protection and well-being of animals. But it appears from the ad that a woman does not deserve the same respect...she is obviously depicted exposed and susceptible. PETA obviously disregards the value of a woman for the sake of an animal.

It's a great ad. For those who think feminists should be up in arms about these ads, please re-think what the Feminist Movement was all about. It's about having choices. That includes the choice to make these ads. Would you worry if it was a scantily-clad male posing? Probably not.

This is a great example of strength expressed through sexuality. Dita is not posed passively, nor does she look victimized in this photo. In fact, its a perfect homage to Bettie Paige, the inspiration for the ad. Bettie Paige used used sexuality in the same way 60 years ago and she's a permanent part of America's fetish culture because of it.
