I think your shots have some potential, but the photography isn't so hot. Maybe try putting a soft box on your lights so they don't produce so much hard light and shadows? Your models are looking very washed out (except for the second photo, which was *excellent*) and a soft box would help with that problem.

YAY my larger picture suggestion worked :o)

I really like this photo, though some really bright accessories could have really made it stand out.

I'm really enjoying these posts, good luck with all future shoots.

Oh I hate to put a downer on things but the story is looking incredibly amateurish. In previous comments there was talk of a lack of Vogue level budgets but make-up artists would be happy to do something for free if it can be used as a test (and you'd get much more professional results).

The direction (did it come from CQ or the photographer?) looks naff and the locations are incoherent. As a series of images they could just about pass muster but as a story? Uh-uh.

One other point, I'm fully aware that shooting glossy stories for magazines and creating images for the web are totally different animals but you should always target your stories to your readers and keep it coherent. Mixing the 'edginess' of the first shot with the dullness of the following images is confusing and there's no excuse for such poor results. Must try harder.

Thank you for all your comments (positive and negative). We always like to hear feedback and get an idea of how the images are received. It's a shame that you did not leave a name as everybody is entitled to an opinion and it's great to talk about ideas and we're happy to take constructive criticism.
We have explained that this is our first EVER shoot so a lot of it was trial and error. We realise that there are things we could improve on and we will take all that on board when planning our next shoot.
We did have a very limited budget and time scale but did the best we could within our means. I personally am quite happy with the shoot although appreciate that there is always room for improvement.
There is a storyline and next time we will try and be more explicit with this and attempt to make the storyline more cohesive.
