Far from being the run down, grimy city some people seem to expect it to be, Birmingham is actually a fantastic place to go shopping, whatever your budget. But what Brum is best known for is its bargains. From the Rag Market to the huge branches of all the high street names that litter the main shopping area, if you’re a bargainista, this is definitely the place to be, as I found out as I returned to my old stomping ground, my Sony Vaio in my bag, for a spot of reminiscing and a lot of shopping. The first thing I stumbled upon? An urban beach with free wi-fi! There's something very rewarding about doing all of this with the feel of sand beneath my toes...
