Victoria Beckham says Brits are more stylish than Americans

74417491.jpg The debate over which is the more fashionable country on either side of the Atlantic is getting quite long and drawn out. It seems Victoria Beckham has an opinion on the debate about who dresses better, Brits or Americans.

“As everyone knows I’m obsessed with fashion. And although I love the way the women in Los Angeles dress, I really think the UK has the most stylish women in the world,” she said. “Now I have my fashion business I’m always looking for inspiration and I have to say the way we put things together is so creative - we really know how to mix things up. I’m very proud to be British."

Well of course that is the case, she’s based in L.A. not New York, and is she forgetting Paris and Milan? What do you think?

i just think it comes down to different aesthetics in different places, not necessarily to who is more stylish in what country or city. and as far as americans, new york and los angeles women have very different styles - many of the things you see hollywood women wear would not fly i new york. in fact, i tend to think vb's style is more suited to ny than la.

I think it's funny that she says the UK has better style than one city in the United States. She hasn't been farther than Melrose Avenue and she's already formed an opinion. If I had to pick most stylish regions, I would pick my own (San Francisco Bay Area) haha and London. Both places really know how to mix things up.

dear "Ada". i think u have a misconception here. u picked San Francisco n London as most fashionable places. doesn't it the same choice as Victoria? while she didn't pick only one city (London) she has picked the WHOLE country-UK! n of course that includes London too! or do u actually think that UK is another city? haha.. n yes,Victoria's life of fashion is more suited to New York than L.A. and her fashion is more classy than those in Hollywood.

She's absolutely right....the Brits are more fashionable than the US. Get over it. I think Victoria looks absolutely fabulous every time she leaves her home. The vast majority of Americans are lazy and their style of dress proves it. I think Europeans in general are more fashionable than the US.

Fashion encompasses many styles. For cutting edge I thinkk the Brits are the leader. For a high class timeless look, Paris is the clear leader. If you were more inclined to a elegant casual then Milan would be your first shopping stop. Relaxed casual, New York or San Francisco. A blend of edgy casual I would start my search in Tokyo. An exotic look would find me in India or So Africa. So the bottom line...true fashion is a world statement..not an individual country.

Admittedly, I am no fashion sandinista, only recently began even caring how I personally look when I go out. But I have travelled extensively and Posh is simply being true to form. I don't know how many people in London think that the brits still make the best cars, they are moronic when it comes to thinking they are the best, make the best, etc. its pathetic behavior. Milan, Paris, Stockholm, Prague, Zurich and my favorite Berlin, are all well ahead of even London. London at times might get an honorable mention for creativity in some parts of the city, but otherwise they are generally bland with little style and sabra faire (sp?).

OMG, then go back to Britian. How shallow. I guess her life is so NOTHING that shwe has nothing better to worry about.

Well, someone should tell her, that Americans got smart about tanning. With as tan as she is, she will probably get skin cancer and not live long enough to worry about fashion or have real wrinkly skin in 10 years and no one will listen to her here or there:)

That dress shown above looks like you could play checkers on it. Better come up with something better if comparing to U.S. or another country.
Sorry try again and better luck next time.

Michael - you asked, so here you are: it's "savoir faire", French, meaning knowing how to do (something). And I agree with you - there are many places around the world that produce really fine and stylish goods, from automobiles to clothing.

This "stylish" British material girl got very lucky when she married her overpaid soccer star. We'll see how stylish she is when the Hollywood bimbos steal her husband. I'll give her a year and then we'll be seeing her "stylish" British picture next to the headline D-I-V-O-R-C-E in the tabloids.

Why would Posh come to the states and boast about herself? WE all know that she has a fashion statement. Look at her hair! What if we all dressed as she did. WE would not be individuals. Go home Posh.

DOES ANYONE REALLY GIVE A F@CK WHAT SHE LOOKS LIKE OR HOW WHO DRESS LIKE WHAT OR WHERE F@CK THE BLEACHED OUT BLOND HEADED H@ AMERICANS HAS FATTER WUSSY'S THEN THE STUPPID BRITS DO LOL,LOL

I DO believe that "POSH" should go home! Who really cares what she says, and how many people have millions of dollars and 24 hours a day to spend on THEMSELVES??? I think she's a selfish, spoiled woman, and I'm anxious to see what happens to them after a while on the L.A. Merry-go-round? I hope he can always make bazillions of bucks to keep her in the style she's most interested in! And HER dress and shoes are rather skanky looking, I think, not at all elegant.

As a Texan living overseas in Australia, N.Z and around POMS, the constant complaint against Americans was how they come to their country and brag on themselves and fellow Americans displaying an arrogance and air of being better than the rest of the world.

I learned rather quickly that I was an ambassador for those of us who have the good grace to never insult my hosts. Hospitality is a two way street; it's not enough to be a good host it also calls upon the rest of us to be a good guest. That being said, Victoria you would do well to remember you are representing your country and you are a guest here. We have yet to embrace you and so far you have not given us much cause to do so.

Take a tip from the public - Tom & Katy in popular opinion are far from being the coolest on the block. It is simply Toms take on himself which is just the beginning of all that is screwed up about him. You're proving no better. At the end of the day that is what we remember about you, not the shoes you wore.

As in international traveler I love to experience the different cultures, styles and traditions. That is what makes the world and people so fascinating and unique, not you Victoria. In a word; get over yourself.

I'm sorry, but Victoria dresses like a whore to me. She's stylish, but is not classy. She also has body image issue - anorexic.
