This has to be the funniest story of the day...Thai police officers are being punished in a new unique way. If they break the rules they will be forced to wear an embarrassing bright pink arm band that has a Hello Kitty motif with two hearts embroidered on it.
The punishment will be applied to officers who break minor rules such as being late, or parking in the wrong place.They will only have to wear it for several days.
"This is to help build discipline. We should not let small offences go unnoticed," Police Colonel Pongpat Chayapan told Reuters news agency.
"Guilty officers will be made to wear the armbands in the office for a few days, with instructions not to disclose their offences. Let people guess what they have done," he said.
Officers who break more serious rules will face a harsher punishment.
I think that this arm band punishment is a great idea and could be applied to everyday life. For example, boyfriend forgets that you're vegetarian - make him wear a Hello Kitty armband! Brother steals your favourite cd - get him a Hello Kitty armband.
