I'm kind of getting the feeling that the whole dresses trend is running out of steam, we've had the prom, the shift, the sack, the tunic, the maxi but to name a few of the styles gracing our high street. This season's looks are much more utilitarian and grown-up, and any glamour is of the dominatrix kind, which doesn't leave much room on the A/W 07 trend mood board for cute retro dresses... Luckily the trouser situation is looking good at the moment. Skinnies have become a lot of people's wardrobe staples recently and now we've got wide-leg, paperbag, high-waist, flood-length and jodphur style trousers to choose from. I've picked the best of the designer bunch of trousers and will be choosing some high street picks this afternoon, see after the jump for images and full product details.

I like Chloe's slim fit trousers, the pleats and zips down the ankle reference jodhpurs without being to obvious. Bi LA Li's jodhpurs are more of a commitment to the trend but are still very wearable. At the other end of the spectrum Antonio Marras' wide-leg pleated trousers have got a fantastic amount of volume and will lend an air of drama to any outfit.
Chloe striped and zipped trousers, Browns: £195.Bi LA Li jodhpurs, Net-a-Porter: £150. Antonio Marras wide-leg trousers, Luisa Viaroma: € 330.
