CQ Live Liverpool: Cavern Walks: Drome & Drome Couture
Cavern Walks is the place to go if you're in Liverpool for a bit of WAG spotting. Home to a clutch of designer shops, it’s a stone’s throw from the famous Cavern Club on Liverpool’s famous Mathew Street. So while on your way to splash the cash you can also have your photo taken with John Lennon (well, a statue of him) and check out bricks on the club wall dedicated to your favourite bands. It was our first stop, and as you can see, Laura was quite excited about getting into those shops...
Our first stop was the two-floor designer mecca ‘Drome’. The lower level is very young LA – perfect for Liverpool’s label queens – stocking brands like Paris Hilton’s favourite Kitson, cult t-shirt brand Junk Food, celeb fave Wheels and Doll Baby, Miss Sixty, TFNC and many more, displayed surrounded by My Little Ponies, Irregular Choice accessories and other girly touches. Laura tried on some on-trend pieces from the new season collections, including a TFNC jewelled top and affordable Dr Denim jeans (£39.99).
Upstairs, it’s a much more sophisticated experience at Drome Couture, the high-end sister shop. Here obvious care and attention has been taken in choosing interesting labels, new design talent and brands that can’t be found next door at WAG haven Cricket.
Buying has been done with a very fashion-forward consumer in mind. London talent like Manish Arora and Laura Lees mingle with hard to find cult favourites like Sara Berman, Tara Jarmon and Butler & Wilson. Prices are inevitably high, but there are bargains to be had in the sale and the friendly, boutique feel means the staff are always on hand to offer good advice rather than loitering over you like you’re going to steal something!
