Nipping into H&M following a good hour in Debenhams, I was surprised to find myself drawn to a massive display in the children’s department! They’re now stocking Sanrio Hello Kitty merchandise – and some of the items are great for (kitschy) adults as well as the under tens they’re aimed at. Cute little hairclips for £1.25, alice bands, handbags and my personal favourite, a pink knitted hat all tempted me from the rails. Sadly the kitty printed rain hat was too small for my big bonce, so if anyone knows where I can get an adult sized on, do share!

Upstairs in the ladies section there was 20% off all dresses and some great key pieces like a Diane Von Furstenberg esque black and white print top, high waisted Prince of Wales check trousers, and a crazy pleated satin shift dress with fluted sleeves and teal and brown stripes. As always, the offerings in H&M seemed to veer from chic and classic to absolutely crazy (the dress being the latter) so if you have time to look through the strangely arranged rails – at least the Brum shop is neat and tidy – there’s something for everyone.
