Here at Shiny Towers we're pretty excited to hear about plans for a film about the early years of Queen Victoria's life, to be aptly titled 'The Young Victoria'.
Emily Blunt, who played Meryl Streep's assistant in The Devil Wears Prada, will star as Victoria and is said to be excited about the role. "I couldn't help but be attracted to this remarkable, high spirited, feisty girl," explained Blunt speaking to the Observer. "The script is exciting, as you see the public and private Victoria are very different."

Keira Knightley's boyfriend Rupert Friend is lined up to play Prince Albert in the film which was written by Julian Fellowes. Other actors who are rumoured to be getting involved include Miranda Richardson and Mark Strong. The film is due to be released in 2009.
