Diane Von Furstenberg tracks down "fakes" at Topshop

At last night's London College of Fashion event, Diane Von Furstenburg shocked the audience by revealing that Topshop had tried to copy her designs. In what appears to be a constant battle between the designer and the high street, Von Furstenberg has employed a team of lawyers who are dedicated to tracking down any copies. "I've had things pulled out of Topshop" she reveals. "My company is big enough to fight them as essentially it is theft."

This is obviously a major bone of contention with Von Furstenberg and rightly so as she explains how hard she works on her designs and doesn't want others to simply cash in on her efforts. She also admits that it is quite flattering in some ways but that high street stores especially should appreciate the value of a designer.
She is also currently suing Forever 21 for similar reasons, DVF is definitely a force to be reckoned with!

Go Diane! I hate all the copies out there. I can how ever see both sides of the argument. There are lots of people who could never afford/justify a real DFV dress, but the copies are generally awful. In a way it makes the real ones even snobbier- only the fashionistas can tell who is legit. Everyone else is just sneaking in a trend on the cheap.
