A poem about shoes... (yes, really!)

Fed up with having to constantly explain the differences between shoe terms, not to mention the countless spelling errors encountered every day online, Gemma (editor of Shoewawa) came up with this clever poem about shoes... (sometimes, we have these unexpected bursts of creative energy). Enjoy!

A court is a pump
And a pump is a flat
A flip-flop's a thong
Depending on where you live

It's a heel not a heal
And a shoe not a show
Diamante is not diamonte
And sandals are never sandles...

Huge sale at Kate Boutique!

kate%20boutique.JPG
I don't know about you, but because of the rubbish weather, I've hardly bought anything in the way of summery clothing recently. In normal person terms, I've still probably bought quite a lot, but on a day like today when the weather's shining, a Kate Boutique summer sale of 30%-50% reductions sounds particularly inviting!

What do you think?

Gemma's adventures in shopping: London Fashion Week looms...

Gemma Cartwright writes...

London Fashion Week is coming. I wish I could say I'm excited, but the truth is I'm petrified. I love the clothes, but I hate the stress. Already the walls of my desk are covered in schedules, 'to do' lists, business cards and hastily scrawled lists of email addresses. Planning CQ's attack on the tents is like a military operation. The world of fashion may be embracing the web now, but we're still a long way from having tickets to the Matthew Williamson show land on our desk without any previous legwork (*sob*). And then, of course, there's the more pressing matter. When the week finally rolls around...what the hell am I going to wear?

Gisele Bundchen's Vanity Fair cover celebrating 68th Best-Dressed List

giselebundchenvanityfair.jpgAussie fashion blog Sassybella first alerted me to Gisele Bundchen's new cover for Vanity Fair's September 'Style' issue which features the 68th annual international best-dressed list. While she may have scored the cover, Bundchen didn't actually make it on this year's list, instead an interesting mix of celebrities, royalty and entertainment/fashion luminaries did.

In the couples section, Victoria and David Beckham led the charge along with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The children of the famous also made the cut including Ivanka Trump, Margherita Missoni and Bee Shaffer. Check out the full list here.

Alternatively, you can watch exclusive footage of Gisele's shoot with Mario Testino here.

Get Hermès catwalk style from with Topshop's leather biker jacket

STYLE_191483a.jpg 11C05RGRY_normal.jpg

This summer's been full of feminity with floral prints everywhere, so it's not surprising that the most striking items on the Autumn/Winter catwalks are those which buck this trend. Hermès showed definite contrast with their biker style (pictured left) and you can copy this designer trend already and for high street prices with this great jacket from Topshop.

The wide lapel and wrapover style are seen in both and Topshop have even included the waist belt feature. A fantastic take on the catwalk style and a great way to stay one step ahead of new season style. This great style steal is available now for £100 from Topshop.

Annie Liebovitz snaps Gorbachev for latest Louis Vuitton campaign

gorbachev.jpg
Unlike most of Catwalk Queen's news items this isn't hot off the presses, simply because when I first heard about this story I thought it was a joke; but it seems the joke's on me because yes, Mikhail Gorbachev is modelling for Louis Vuitton. Obviously modelling is a bit of an exaggeration but there he is, looking tense in the back of a car with the all-important bag nestling at his side. Annie Liebovitz is responsible for the image which is part of campaign to promote the brand's heritage and history which is a definite move to attract the new wealthy elite in Russia and China. As well as Gorby Liebovitz also snapped Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf snuggling up in a hotel, LV bags unpacked and Catherine Deneuve resting on a trunk in front of a steaming locomotive.

Victoria's Secret "Top Secret" Fashion Show in Prague

75611840.jpg
Dubbed the "Top Secret" Victoria's Secret fashion show, the Prague parade of models at the Hilton Hotel last week offered a sneak peek into VS's newest angelic collection. The now iconic wings were touted by hard-bodied Russian models with steely eyes and strong jaw lines. (It reminds me of something... has anyone see the Russian Girls video?) Hello Magazine describes the white, black and red lingerie as carrying a 'Moulin Rouge' element - probably encouraged by the stark, strong, dramatic lighting as reminiscent of Nicole Kidman's lovely 'Diamonds' performance.
