The airbrush madness continues: L'Oreal revamp Scarlett Johansson

It may not be quite as bad as trimming Kelly Clarkson down a dress size or two, but it's definitely cheap marketing. L'Oreal have released a set of nude shades in the Glam Shine Lipgloss collection, and to promote it, they've just re-hashed a previous image of Scarlett Johansson in different colour. With ScarJo promoting everything from Louis Vuitton handbags to Reebok trainers these day, it's no wonder she didn't have time to pose for a new set of photos...but did L'Oreal really think we would notice this trick? Surely this is taking airbrushing a step too far...or do you think it's acceptable? [via Kiss and Makeup]

I agree with what Jess said previously. It has nothing to do with Scarlett, but L'Oreal..what are you doing? The lipgloss is really just a made-up computer colour not a real lipgloss. How can we trust any cosmetics advertising after this?

  • I'd say it's sneaky - on the other hand, it's perfectly legal - if Scarlett Johanssen's contract didn't stipulate that they couldn't do that, even she has no recourse. Considering what most fashion and glamour photos look like before they are photoshopped and color corrected, etc., the lipgloss could have been any color. Even the "original" lipgloss may have not looked like it does in the first ad. As long as the photo looks reasonably like the color of the actual product, advertisers can get away with murder.

She's saying it's unacceptable because they're just using the same picture; they didn't bother to take another one for the new campaign.

  • jess

it's unacceptable as she isn't even wearing the product being advertised.

Maybe my eyesight is fading, but I can't tell the difference...
