Stella McCartney has announced plans to take eco-campaigning to a new level by staging a virtual anti-fur protest in the cult world of Second Life. The week long event will begin at 7pm on 12th July and involves the creation of a PETA island.
At the protest guests will be invited to create slogans similar to PETA's "I'd rather Go naked than wear fur" and as the slogans are submitted, they will appear on the island, forming the basis for an ongoing discussion about the fur trade.
Longterm animal rights activist McCartney comments, "Sometimes it's nice to have a bit of humour on serious subjects".
The island will be based on the English countryside and will feature a Linda McCartney burger stand, PETA and Stella McCartney tree-houses and a "live" DJ booth.

The slogans will be judged by McCartney herself, with the winner announced on 22 July. The best three slogans will win Stella McCartney prizes. First prize: two tickets to the Spring-Summer 2008 fashion show in Paris in October. Second prize: a Fall-Winter Appaloosa bag. Third prize: a full set of CARE by Stella McCartney, the first luxury organic skincare line, containing 100 per cent organic active ingredients.
