Naomi Campbell sinks to struttin' on "common" people catwalks?

naomicampbellfashionweekdiva.jpg Since suffering tremendous hits to her professional reputation after lawsuit settlements, community service and a mountain of critique for her reportedly over-the-top diva demands, Naomi Campbell has struggled to make repairs.

She did do that charity donation thing after parading designer clothing on every day of her community service sentence and that W feature, the Naomi Campbell Diaries, was well recieved. But as far as catwalking, it seems that the big boys won't take her and she's "resorted to appearing at a series of less-known commercial American fashion shows" in cities like San Francisco, Dallas, and Houston.

Apparently, poor Naomi is the laughing stock and butt of jokes in the fashion circuit for her Fashion Week Live effort, which charges US$750-$1500 per person for the chance to see her, and Gemma Ward, pound down the runway in Zac Posen.

  • John III - you have a lot of great points there. Hooray for "common" people catwalks!

This is ridiculous; look here is a woman who is a model; that's her job and she is the best at what she does; simple as that. Just think; everyone else who started modeling when she did has retired but Naomi is still able to model and do a good job just like she did when she was 20; in a field that often practices age discrimination that is a testiment to her endurance.

Considering this making her the focus of every joke is insane and flat out stupid because sha has represented the industry extremely well from a professional standpoint.

What she is doing in Fashion Week Live is doing what few designers in New York have ever done; she is opening up the fashion industry to other cities and other designer are having a chance that they may not have normally had. Just think; there aren't to many designers who were born into families that had fashion house at birth; they were discovered and this is an attempt to discover what is out there and to bring the fashion world to most Americans because most Americans don't pay any attention to what goes on in New York City or any other city. Some people in the southern United States still wear fashions that were in vogue 15 to 20 years ago and they never went out of style. The fashion industry needs to wake up and understand that these people in other cities are potential consumers and stop attack Naomi because she is actually help them out more than they realize.
