Marilyn Monroe's white halterneck dress voted "most iconic"

Marilyn%20Monroe%20iconic.jpgIt's an image we will never forget... Marilyn Monroe's figure-hugging white halterneck dress flying up as she stood over a subway vent in the film The Seven Year Itch. Now it's been voted the most iconic movie dress of all time in a new poll by www.missbutterfly.co.uk.

Audrey Hepburn's LBD designed by Givenchy and worn in the film Breakfast At Tiffany's came in at second place. Some may argue this should be the other way around. Her black number famously went under the hammer at Christies last year for a record £410,000.

Other famous frocks to make it on the list include Julia Roberts' spotted Polo dress from Pretty Woman and Jessica Rabbit's red number in Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Do cartoon dresses even count? Apparently so!

Keep reading for the full list...

Madame Bovary (1949): the huge, white, tulle dress with the black flowers across the bodice that Jennifer Jones wears to the ball

Marilyn Monroe's white dress is definitely the most iconic movie dress followed by Audrey Hepburn's. But most of the choices on the list are dubious. Olivia Newton John's prom dress instead of her preppy yellow getup? Why Robin Williams' dress (I've watched Mrs. Doubtfire a couple of times and do not think it was especially important to the movie or has any sort of iconicism)? I also agree with Jenny. Where is Scarlett O'Hara's amazing green and white dress?!?

What about Audrey Hepburn's green and white gown in "Sabrina Fair" possibly one of the most beautiful gowns ever. Or Grace Kelly's Gold dress in "To Catch a Thief??

I love them all! Each dress has it's own unique memory for us, especially the women of the world! Each dress brings back all the wonderful memories of the movie, as well as the star who wore it.
