janeshep.jpgYou wont find her behind a counter asking you if you need a plastic bag but Jane Shepherdson is giving her time to Oxfam for free. From next month she is helping the charity turn some of its clothes into an ethical fashion line. Since her departure from Topshop Shepherdson has been vocal about the trend for disposable fashion saying that consumers were finding it “a bit boring” to open their wardrobes and find them full of “cheap rubbish” warning that “someone, somewhere down the line is paying”. David McCullough, Oxfam's director of trading said “We were one of the people who pioneered the principles of fair trading shopping 40 years ago but we have forgotten to tell people how central we are to the whole ethical debate. When we sell products, the money doesn’t go to the shareholders of the company, it goes to fight poverty.”
This comes after news that Shepherdson took a role as Brand Director at People Tree ending intense speculation as to what her next move would be after Topshop.
