It seems counter-intuitive for designers to cater to the blind. After all, isn't fashion all about how you look? Jaimen Brill and Asmah Abushagur, from the Rochester Institute of Technology, disagree; its not about how you look, its about how you feel. They want to give the blind/visually impaired community more independence and confidence in their own wardrobe choices. Therefore, the pair are forming White Cane Label, a non-profit dedicated to help shop for clothing, and advocating for an interactive, audio enhanced website, and for Braille tags to be sewn into all clothing. The clothing labels are to be made out of cloth, rather than aluminum (pictured above) and to include symbols for brand, color, style, and washing directions. We wish them all the best for their presentation in Rome before Fashion for Good Roundtable, the Alta Roma fashion association! Go sisters - fashion is for everyone!
