Ascot Racewear: 1920s/30s-inspired outfit

'Tis the season to be betting with Epsom race meet last week and Ascot fast on the approach. If you're planning a day out at the track then here is an outfit for you. The style is 1920s/30s centering around this gorgeous custom-made felt cloche hat complete with octopus-style tentacles. Whether you're picnicking out in the Silver Ring or living it up in the Royal Circle with HRH herself, the general rule of thumb for race day fashion is - always dress with the weather in mind. For there is nothing worse than seeing ladies with their heels sunk in muddy grass or alternatively, lobster-red from forgetting the SPF.

That is one weird and gorgeous hat! That milliner has been added to my bookmarks for sure!
But to be boring and practical for a moment - the brim doesn't look like it's wide enough to keep off the sun (needs to be 2 or ideally 3 inches all round), and felt hats aren't really suitable for the summer. But who cares... I'm sure the same milliner could make me another! Woohoo!
