Yay Or Nay Wednesday: Celebrities becoming their own brand

Last week's Chain Link printed dresses from Tibi were loved by almost everybody! (Who knew?) Now, there have been so many celebrity "____ for H&M/Topshop/New Look" clothing lines coming out lately, I'm not even sure how I feel about them.

Now, I love Lily Allen. L-O-V-E her, and coincidently covet most of the dresses in the Lily Loves line. However, I don't care about Madonna's clothes for H&M and even Kylie's swimsuit line, simply because I don't like them enough to care about what clothes they like. (And don't even get me started on Kate Moss.) Which leads me to wonder how our lovely readers feel about the growing trend of celebrities having their own brand and clothing lines?

Do you think Nay: It's irritating and over-played. Who cares what "Lily Loves".

Or do you think Yay: You love wearing clothes you know your favorite stars love to, and will buy them simply for that reason.

mostly i say nay unless the person seriously has some style breakthrough's in mind. and the only one celeb who has succeeded well in my opion is gwen stefni. the rest just take regular clothes and slapp they name and ridiculus prices on them.

Nay, big time. Let the designers design, and the singers sing. As said above, many times, it's very overhyped.

  • Kat

Nay. The clothes these celebrities wear are not exactly designed by themselves. It's a matter of mixing and matching and how they bring themselves with their ensembles. Kudos to that BUT i think these celebrities should just leave the designing to the real designers.

Big, fat NAY. I hate celebrity labels. Most of the time, they don't do a lick of the designing, and someone else does it for them. But the mass public thinks it's her brainchild. Terrible.

Nay. The reason people admire the style of people like Lily and Kate is because they're always individual and they have a fresh look, selling copies of their outfits just seems to defeat the point. Plus, I sometimes find that the celebrity lines somehow manage to look cheaer than the normal clothes that the store produces.
